TEP SOYUZ has developed a feasibility study for a TPP running on waste ferroalloy gas for JSC TNK Kazchrome
Kharkiv Design Institute TEP SOYUZ in cooperation with our partner in Kazakhstan EPC Industry, LLP developed a feasibility study for the construction of a recycling power plant on ferroalloy gas of smelting shop No. 4 in Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant – a branch of JSC TNK Kazchrome.
The feasibility study passed the state expert approval and the positive conclusion was received on April 25, 2022.
The main objectives of the investment project are utilization of combustible ferroalloy gas from the smelting furnaces of the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant and generation of the maximum possible amount of electric power for the production needs of the plant.
The feasibility study considered two options for the main equipment:
- Option 1 – Steam power unit with installed electric power capacity of 100 MW, including:
- one boiler unit using a mixture of ferroalloy and natural gas as fuel;
- one steam condensing turbine.
- Option 2 – Steam power double-unit with an installed electric power capacity of 100 MW, including:
- two boilers using a mixture of ferroalloy and natural gas as fuel;
- one steam condensing turbine.
The economic effect and the supply of electric energy for production needs after achieving the design capacity, planned in 2025, will be:
- for Option 1 – 31,320.87 thousand USD (736.03 million kWh);
- for Option 2 – 30,971.94 thousand USD (727.83 million kWh).
